The Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking highly motivated qualified candidates for the position of Field Deputy within the Patrol Division.
To perform this job successfully, a candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Candidates must conform to the following for consideration for this position;
- Candidate must possess High School Diploma or equivalent
- Candidate must be at least age 21 years or older at the date of hire
- Candidate must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver License at the date of hire
- Candidate must not have a felony conviction
- Candidate must not be a Defendant in an adjudicated VPO case
- Candidate must not have a history of offenses involving domestic violence or moral turpitude
- Candidate must not have a DUI offense within the previous 5 years
- Candidate must pass a comprehensive background check
- Candidate must possess at least basic CLEET Peace Officer Certification, COPS Graduate certificate (ready to test), or an equivalent out-of-state certification that meets CLEET reciprocity requirements.
- Candidates must be of sufficient psychological stability
Patrol Deputies must complete the PCSO Field Training Program to perform their duties. The training program is designed to ensure proper monitoring and provide effective instruction throughout the new recruit’s training in accordance with State and Federal laws.
Each commissioned member of the PCSO is also required to complete annual continuing education hours as mandated by CLEET as well as the PCSO. In addition, Deputies are trained in many other areas pertaining to their work environment and job-related duties.
Other essential duties and functions include, but are not limited to the following;
- Enforce all Federal, State, County, and Municipal Codes (within contract cities), Statutes, or Ordinances.
- Arrest and Detention of criminal offenders.
- Respond to crimes in progress both emergency and non-emergency in nature.
- Protect life and property against criminal acts and to preserve the peace.
- Provide protection against any harmful acts, both willful & inadvertent, whether of a criminal or non-criminal nature.
- Provide emergency first responder level assistance to persons in various states of distress.
- Provide initial services to persons suffering from mental illness and that may be in a state of crisis.
- Assist other law enforcement agencies and personnel as needed.
- Patrol the unincorporated areas of the County in an effort to prevent criminal acts by offenders.
- Investigate all criminal acts, process the recovery of stolen property and vehicles, write reports on all incidents and make follow-up reports as required.
- Prepare case records for presentation to the appropriate court for filing of charges and testify as required.
- Handle all emergencies, disorders, & special events & keep supervisors informed of all matters of importance.
- Provide various other types of public service and law enforcement duties to all persons within the county.
