Millions of people talk over the the computer. This connection is called  "THE INTERNET" The internet connects people with information from all over the world.

The internet is a fun place to visit. A web site is a place where you can hear, read, and see information on a certain subject. 

The internet also allows you to travel to places you have never been before. 

The main thing each of you need to remember and understand is that these people are "STRANGERS"

A Stranger is someone 

 

You do not know even if you talk to them for a long time on the internet.
You have never seen  before
Whose name you do not know.
Someone your parents do not approve of or know.

A stranger can be old or young, a woman or a man, tall or short.  Most strangers are not dangerous, but some

 pretend to be someone they aren't. These strangers may try to find out who you are and where you live at by asking you questions. They may even hurt you. 

*Never Tell Anyone On Line *

 

Your name, nickname, or your parent's name   

Your address, city, state, or a description of your neighborhood 

Your phone number  

If you are a boy or girl or your race  

How old you are and your grade 

What school you attend or where it is located 

Your team names and where you practice

When you are home alone 

Where you like to hang out 

Your friend's or pet's names 

Your e-mail , address, or passwords 

Never send a picture of your family or yourself without the permission of your parents or guardian.

Log off. Do not talk to anyone who sends you messages or pictures that make you feel uncomfortable. 

Never order anything (even free products) or fill out information offers, without a parent or trusted adult's permission first.

Never agree to meet in person anyone you meet online unless a parent, caregiver, or trusted adult says it's okay and goes with you. .
